Rhythm of the City

I'm at Overexposed and Underdeveloped today waxing rhapsodic about mornings on the city streets.  Come on over and join me!

Getting the hang of it...

Film.  I thought it would be so much easier to learn.  Instead, it's been challenging.  It's been frustrating.  It's been humbling.  I can't tell you how many times I've walked into Robert's Imaging downtown to have one of the technicians shake his head no....no dice...nothing on the roll....zip...nada.  I hang my head.  I gather my ego up from the floor.  I buy two more rolls of film.  And I walk out the door committed to trying again.  I've nearly given up on my mother's Pentax a hundred times...or rather, I've nearly given up on myself.  Thanks to advice and patience from good friends, I think maybe I'm getting the hang of it...maybe.  I picked up my first decent roll yesterday.  This was the first image that popped up....my son smiling.  I'm in love, instantly.

{Together}

Together at last...
So much hope and love and waiting and praying and...
So much joy!

Numerous trips to Ethiopia to visit, but never long enough.
A quiet nursery in the house waiting for the laughter of these two little boys...
Finally, everyone under one roof...home.

Together at last...
And there is giggling and hide & seek and peek-a-boo and LOVE.
Dagim and Tamene are such sweet and curious little boys!  Eager to out do each other in everything!  (let the sibling rivalry begin!!)  So much happiness!!

I felt humbled to photograph their family.  Truly.  It's a gift to look through the lens and see the tenderness and love that they have for one another.  Welcome home Tamene and Dagim!  You are so loved!

Aren't the murals AMAZING?!  Their grandmother painted them by hand!!

Together...
Much love and many blessing to all of you...
