Keep Indianapolis Beautiful: FedEx @ Spades Park

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) is an incredible organization lead by inspired souls.
A couple of weeks ago, I spent part of my morning at Spades Park with KIB and FedEx as they partnered in a tree planting project.  KIB transforms public places by working with community leaders and citizens to improve neighborhoods.  It was a sunny, beautiful morning and I felt honored to take part in the event.

Rebuilding Together Indianapolis ~ Game Day 2011 Event

One of the things I love about being a photographer is taking part in community events.  I think it's important to give back, to live with purpose, to contribute to the world around us.  Truthfully, we can all do something and every little bit helps.

I was truly honored to be part of the Game Day 2011 Event for Rebuilding Together Indianapolis that was held Saturday, April 30th.  Over 600 volunteers revitalized 19 homes on the city's Near East Side.  It was a gorgeous sunny day and the feeling of community was palpable.  "Many hands make light work"...the philosophy that permeates the organization and heard repeatedly that morning.  I'm so thankful to have taken part and I'm already looking forward to next year.

The Waiting Game

My very good friend Hilary looking beautiful and relaxed...and due within a few short weeks of this photo!  Hilary is an incredible woman, mother, and friend.  She's the kind of mother I try to be.  I love how she see's her children for who they are....savors their quirks....celebrates their strengths...and loves them unconditionally.  Recently, she and her husband welcomed an adorable baby boy, Leo!!  I can't wait to meet him!

Congratulations Hilary and Jeff!!  xoxo

Hinkle Fieldhouse with the BBA

Recently, I had the pleasure of spending the morning at Hinkle Fieldhouse with the Butler Business Accelerator (BBA) photographing them for an upcoming publication in the Indianapolis Business Journal.

The BBA brings diverse, high-quality consulting teams to clients throughout Indiana while demonstrating The College of Business's philosophy of "Real Life, Real Business" in the classroom.  Their results speak for themselves.  I'm continually impressed by this group and their ability to demonstrate The Butler Way.

Go Dawgs!!!

{chicago: quietly & intently}

"I enjoy looking quietly and intently at living human beings going about their work and duties and occupations and activities as though they were spread before us for our pleasure and interest.  A huge opera.  A huge arena." ~ Dorothea Lange

I recently returned from a short visit to Chicago with my husband and kids.  This year for spring break we visited family in Illinois and took a small side trip into Chicago via the Union Pacific West Line Train.  I love falling into a city...discovering it....quiet moments found in the midst of the hustle and bustle.  I love watching people walk by....wonder what their story is...wonder what they're thinking.  I love finding a part of a city that's not mentioned in the guide books.   A huge opera.  A huge arena.  Indeed.

Mia {Baptism Day}

My beautiful little niece, Mia.
She is the sweetest little baby!
We recently attended her baptism on a visit home.
I love that she wore the same necklace that
her older sister wore on her baptism day.
Traditions carried on...
Connections between sisters...
After the ceremony I spent a few moments photographing her....
