Springtime in the Apple Orchard

Driving to photograph this family, it began raining steadily.  "Why oh why must it rain NOW??!!" I said in absolute frustration (there may have been some expletives).  It had been sunny and beautiful all day...and then rain.  As I pulled into the apple orchard, the steady rain slowed to a sprinkle....and then SUNSHINE!  Thank you Lord!  My good friends arrived with smiles on their faces and we set off exploring.

"What should we do?" they asked and I said...

"Just do what you normally do...just be who you are."  

And so they did.

And the camera captured them loving and laughing and playing.

And being silly...

And being tender...

And I was aware...

that this is a family who loves each other very, very much.

Mia {4months and Pretty in Pink}

My niece Mia at 4 months old.  She might be the happiest baby I've ever met!  She's teething these days and those fingers are just right to nibble on!  The two of us enjoyed a little quiet time together while her mom read to her big sister, Maddy.  Sweet Mia...oh how we love you!!  xo

Maddy {5yrs old and Sweet As Can Be}

My niece Maddy turned five!  That's so hard for me to believe!!  FIVE!!  Oh my!  We had such a wonderful day celebrating.  We went to Townhouse Books and had fun reading.  She  and her mom shared some girl time giggling and sharing secrets.  She wore her favorite rain boots.  She snuggled a little bit with her little sister, Mia.  And then we went for ice cream at our favorite place...Graham's Chocolate and Ice Cream where her cousins (my kids) joined us.  Such a pretty little girl of five!  Growing up so quickly....

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful: FedEx @ Spades Park

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) is an incredible organization lead by inspired souls.

A couple of weeks ago, I spent part of my morning at Spades Park with KIB and FedEx as they partnered in a tree planting project.  KIB transforms public places by working with community leaders and citizens to improve neighborhoods.  It was a sunny, beautiful morning and I felt honored to take part in the event.
